By their very nature, chain restaurant commercials are master classes in acting, but the over-emoting in this “mom and junior paint the town marinara while dad’s ‘at work’” vignette is next-level even for an Olive Garden spot. I mean, is it just me or is the mom riding her son’s jock inappropriately hard? I like to imagine the director was some kind of Lars von Trier manqué and this was the seventy-fifth or ninety-eighth take he’d inflicted on this poor lady.
